There are many different types of love, but none are as extraordinary as the love God shows towards us. He does not love us because we deserve it. It is actually the complete opposite. We are sinful creatures, completely undeserving of such love. His love is not like the love we experience from those around us, but it is a self-sacrificing love. He shows us this love through Christ’s death on the cross to bear the burden of our sin. He shows this love by sending the spirit so that we may love as He loves us (1 John 4:19). “God is love.” (1 John 4:8) There is so much meaning in such a small sentence. God doesn’t just love; He is love. His nature and actuality are love. Love permeates even His wrath and anger. We must glorify Him because He loves us. God’s love is personal. He knows each and every one of us individually and knows our needs. He knows our hearts. (John 2:25) Why does God love us? Because He is Love
