My God shall supply all your need

Rev. VanOverloop preached on this passage recently, and there were so many things from that sermon that were good to hear. First of all, the God who loves us and who sent His Son to die for our sins cares just as much for us His adopted children, as He does Jesus His only begotten Son. He does not love us less because of our sinfulness, because His love forgives us in Christ. Because of that love He has planned out our lives to best serve the plan of our salvation. And because He loves us, He gives us what we need. Yes, we are selfish people and probably some of our favorite words are “I want…” We think that we need the things that we want. We aren’t happy unless we have that latest version of the iPhone, that new car, house, or clothes. Maybe it’s even a vacation that we think we need because we are just so sick of working. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad to HAVE these things, but what’s bad is the attitude of thinking we need them to be happy. Paul in Philippians 4 was in the lowest part of his life. He had been imprisoned, but he still says in verse 18, “I have all, and abound: I am full, having recieved…the things which were sent from you…but my God shall supply all YOUR need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
